After years of advocacy, the Safer 17th cycle track is finally here! Let's celebrate with a Ribbon Cutting Ceremony.

"Paint is going in on 17th Street!!! We’ll have a celebration on Sunday, June 9th at 2 pm, at Thee Parkside." - Peter Belden, Safer 17th Street.

Location: Thee Park Side. 1600 17th St, San Francisco, CA 94107. A bar offering a backyard and a small stage. Cash-only · Offers outdoor seating and bike parking. Find their menu here.

Support Sustainable Transportation Initiatives to and from UCSF campuses. The new cycle track on 17th Street improves connectivity between the Mission Bay campus and surrounding areas. This new protected bike lane offers a safe travel corridor to campus for students, faculty, and staff who commute by bike.Community Networking. Engage with local neighborhood community members, city officials, and other cycling advocates. Networking strengthens ties between UCSF Bikes! and the wider San Francisco community.Promote Healthy Transportation. Cycling is an active mode of transportation. By supporting the Safer 17th cycle track, UCSF Bikes! helps encourage healthy transportation within the university community.Experience the new Cycletrack Firsthand. Meet Peter Belden, The SF Bicycle Coalition 2024 Bike Champion. "Peter Belden, began his biking journey in 2019 after a transformative experience abroad. Since then, biking has become central to his life in the city. As an advocate for safer biking, Peter has organized bike buses for students and fought for protected bike lanes on 17th Street. His dedication and enthusiasm make him an inspiration to the biking community."
